Tutorial Activity: Online Jeopardy Game
I introduced the online jeopardy game during a Zoom tutorial. During the tutorial, students were divided into two teams, in which their jeopardy teammates were also their final project teammates. Students first picked mascots to represent their teams. Then, the teams took turns answering the jeopardy questions, which tested their knowledge of the course content. During the final round, the teams were allowed to bet all their points. The winning team would receive bonus participation points for the course.

Tutorial Activity: Stakeholder Roleplay
I introduced the roleplay activity during a Zoom tutorial. Before the tutorial, students were divided into teams, in which their roleplay activity teammates were also their final project teammates. Each team was assigned a scenario in which the individual teammates represented different stakeholders. During the tutorial, the team was expected to act out the scenario, in which each stakeholder had three minutes to justify his or her stance in the scenario.
Student Engagement with Poll Everywhere
One of the biggest challenges of conducting Zoom lectures is managing student engagement. Common problems that educators face include engaging a silent class that does not respond to the teacher and moderating a noisy class that does not know how to take turns talking through Zoom. I introduced the Poll Everywhere app to manage the instructor’s engagement with remote students. The app allows students to participate in discussions by clicking on a hyperlink on their computer or mobile device. The hyperlink leads them to a multiple-choice or word cloud poll, in which the poll results are available instantly in real-time. The Poll Everywhere app increased the participation of remote students and helped facilitate meaningful and productive in-class discussions.
